Chinese Ex-Professor Given a 10 Year Term

A former associate professor named Guo Quan, who started an independent political party, was recently sentenced to 10 years in prison for "subverion of state power". In 2007 and 2008 Mr. Guo wrote a series of articles that talked about social problems in China. He lost his job as a professor in 2007 and was detained by police officers last November. His trial was in August.
